With All Your Heart

Our women's conference this spring was titled With All Your Heart and focused on Mark 12:30. "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment." This means that we are to love our God with everything in us!

In John 14:15, Jesus tells us "If ye love me, keep my commandments". This is HUGE! This should not be taken lightly by any of us. We are to follow God's law always...not when it benefits us, not to make ourselves look good to others, not when its easy, not when its convenient, not to earn salvation...but simply as a way to show our outpouring love for the Father.

"But we are all prone to sin." "Everyone makes mistakes sometimes." "Even so and so and such and such have done those things too, so it can't be that bad, right?"

These are lies that we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better when we fall to temptation. No matter what the sin, "big" or "small", its still SIN. God cannot even look upon it! That is pretty serious! We CAN have daily victory over the temptation to sin(whatever the sin may be). Look at verse 16:

"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever"

God has given us a way to conquer this temptation, Praise the Lord! He has sent the Comforter! He has given us the Holy Spirit to dwell in us forever!! That amazes me, that He would send a part of Himself to live inside a filthy sinner like me! That is part of what makes Him so good. He doesn't just command that we do something; He lets us make that choice on our own. He desires for us to live for Him on a daily basis.

So how do we take this command to be obedient and actually be obedient? This comes from being close with our Father. So close, that our desires become the same as His desires for us. Which means being in His Word! Knowing what He says! And to be living it out daily. This means we must be intentional with every action and careful with every thought. This means truly being set apart from this sinful world we live in!

I suggest getting with some of your Christian sisters(or Fristers(friend/sisters)) and hold each other accountable!! I always say that a TRUE friend will be the one that isn't scared to call you out when they see you falling into sin. Now, this doesn't mean that you can nitpick everything that you don't like about your friends and feel its justified...this means through prayer and the love of Christ, we gently guide our beloved sisters back on the path of righteousness.
"Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them" Matthew 18:20

In His Love,
Cheryl

Don't Pick it Up!

The yoke we bear is so heavy at times. Many times we feel like it will just squash us flat!  I have been  going through this Bible study, Breaking Free by Beth Moore.  As I was reading through the material this week, trying to catch up to where everyone else is, it is revealed to me over and over again! You can feel completely free from past sins and temptations that surround you today! Galatians 5:1 says: "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." I don't know about you, but I can't tell you how many times I have laid a past sin or burden down at the foot of the cross and not a few days later picked it back up again!  Sometimes I think that I can handle it on my own...or maybe just feel so guilty over a sin (one that has been confessed and forgiven) that I don't feel worthy of forgiveness and mercy.  We must remind ourselves that Christ died for those sins and God has
